The Hick from French Lick

Here’s a really great documentary on the Bird/Johnson rivalry of the 80′s. There are 8 parts – all of which are on youtube. You have to jump around to find them but it’s definitely worth it. Below are the first and last segments to help you find your bearings.

Multiplicity shots are nothing new but they’re fun. I’m hoping to shoot a couple more shortly. Here’s Andrew doing Andrew things.

Coupla dudes

Danzig

I’ve been toying with the idea of attempting another stop motion project. My last attempt – almost 10 years ago now – was a (mild) success in that we walked away with something and we learned an important lesson: Stop motion is fuggin hard.

The idea of creating characters and stories that aren’t bound to reality is very appealing but the logistics of stop motion are daunting. To build a simple character that will move fluidly and won’t mutate during production is just one of the many hurdles you have to clear to make a short.

To get the ball rolling I created these two dudes. They look okay but they’re totally unusable for animation (despite my efforts to do so). I’ll keep experimenting but I’m starting to think looking for a material other than clay might be the best solution.

Din Dins

Marilyn is recording every dinner we eat for (hopefully) the next year. We’re a month and a half in already. So far so good. Some pretty meaty weeks here and there but overall our diet doesn’t appear too heinous. See the project here: Another Day Another Dinner.
