Starcrossed 2010
BLAMMO. I present to you the first video to be born from me lovely T2i. Thank god I bought that $8 plastic camera condom before the race. It poured the whole time. For 8 bucks it’s a hell of a deal. The body was bone dry even after being in the rain for 2 hours. Though I’m definitely going to have to look into buying a lens hood. Unfortunately I ran out of battery on the second last lap, which explains why the video feels rather incomplete come the finale. It’s too bad because the final sprint would have made for some good video, providing I could find a good angle amongst the hordes. Overall banging weekend. The Americans know how to put on badass cross races.

Get dirt
I took this picture two years ago at the USGP in Portland. Which, by the way, was the last time I did a proper cross race. I’ll be making my grand return to the amateur cross scene next weekend at Starcrossed and Rad Racing in Redmond. My expectations are modest as I’ve more or less piled out the last 4 weeks. My enthusiasm for road racing reached an all time low this August, meaning whatever “engine” I had developed over the summer is by now likely crippled. It’s tough to keep it up these days. Competitive cycling is bloody demanding and I’m kind of a lazy dude. Anywho. I’m gonna pick up a couple “loaves” of american cheddar on my way home as reward for my hard work.

Banana
Eight years ago my buddy James and I decided to make a stop motion animation. We gathered the appropriate materials, he wrote a script and we spent one sleepless night banging the thing out. Due to poor character construction on my part our protagonist (Banana Guy) was well on his way to decomposition after only the first scene. In light of this we abandoned the script and freestyled it for the remainder of the “film”. That largely explains why nothing of interest happens outside of Banana Guy biting his canine companions face off. I think the bulk of our efforts were spent spinning the dog on a rock and moving eyebrows.
Anyway. I got my hands on the raw footage a little while ago and decided to make something (borderline) watchable from it. I cut it with a mixture of vintage footage from anti-drug PSA’s from the 50′s and 60′s and set it to Tommy Guerrero’s Molotov Telegram.

A parting gift
I’m going away for a couple days. See some nature and whatnot. Until I return…
