Oh TCAF… so far away

New sequential art for you
After slaving many months I’ve completed yet another comic of dubious quality. I’ve consulted my literary advisor and we’ve identified several weak spots in addition to a half-assed conclusion. But as they say, done is better than perfect.

Just look at that pony
I had forgotten about Kate Beaton for a short while. Shameful really, seeing as her comics are quite possibly the most bomb-ass picture stories to have ever graced my eyeballs.
Against my better judgement I stopped in at RX comics last Sunday. On approach I reassured myself. “You will not buy anything today. You are merely there to browse.” It’s kind of funny how we do this. Deep down you totally know you’re going into the shop with the intent of dropping cabbage, yet we insist on lying to ourselves to mitigate the guilt. Anyways, within minutes I had my filthy paws on a Grickle book and shortly thereafter found myself deliberating between several Jason titles. I finally decided on The Werewolves of Montpellier (haven’t cracked it yet but I’m confident it’ll be $13 well spent). On my way over to the counter I caught sight of the new Inkstuds book. Long story short I jettisoned the Grickle and scooped the Inkstuds. Good decision! To my delight there are two interviews with Kate Beaton inside, both pretty fooking tight.
Anywaaaays, after reading her interviews I was all curious n’ shit about what kind of treasures she’s been creating as of late. So I surfed on over to harkavagrant.com and had my mind blowwwwn.
FEAST MY LOVELIES, FEAST…
The best part is when the king barges into the room and accuses pony of turning the evil wizard into a poof. Not only is the writing genius, but the execution of fatheaded pony is done to perfection. Kudos to you Ms. Beaton!

A room with a view
Here’s a stupid strip I did recently. It started life as a jam comic, then I took it home and peppered it with romance and sex appeal.
I think using the toilet while naked is hilarious.

Portrait of a teenager
Inspired by a drawing done by Ed Brisson, I sketched a quick portrait of myself at the tender age of 15. Like many teenagers I was kind of an idiot. Perhaps the most unforgivable of my many mistakes were the oversized pants cut well above the ankle. Combine that with my ridiculous hair and innate “beat-up” appeal, it’s a surprise I didn’t get pounded more often. And boy did I ever love Doritos!

A gathering of minds
I drew this last year during our trip to Japan – only just got around to scanning and colouring it a few days ago.

Tuff Noogies
Finally! Tuff Noogies came dangerously close to being mothballed. I eventually got my arse in gear and completed the last of the remaining panels. This one will hit close to home for all Tim Hortons enthusiasts.
